Again the Brookline boys enter the season as one of the top ranked teams in the state, however the brookline program isn’t defined by its position in September, but at the All-State meet in mid November. Over the past four years the Brookline boys have performed numerous times, specifically to upset BC High back in 2024, and Concord-Carlisle in 2025. Though just like last year's journey they might face some challenges at the beginning of the season.
While last year it was clear Brookline had the best 1-2 punch in the state with Theodore Butty and Liam Hartmann, there are multiple duos coming back this year that have the potential to take this spot. After an injury last winter track season, Liam Hartmann returns as the top returner from last year's Meet of Champions and is joined by Ibrahim Abdel-Dayem. Abdel-Dayem had a breakout cross country season last year but didn’t start to get real momentum until the track seasons where he was runner-up in the two-mile at the Division 1 Indoor meet and scored a 3rd place finish in the event at the Division 1 outdoor meet. Although this duo has some serious talent, Lexington returns the confident duo of Trevor Stevens & Patrick Noonan with Billerica also returning two of the best two-milers in the state with Mason Niles & Sahil Ghandi. Abdel-Dayem returns with a two-mile PR of 9:21 while Hartmann returns with a SB of 9:25 and a PR of 9:12.
Though cross country isn’t scored two deep, it's scored with five. Nam Danh (16:30), Elias Thomasson (16:37), and Mathew Ritter (16:38) all return to fill this space. The trio of rising juniors had a 1-2-3 finish in the Large School Sophomore Race at the Twilight Invitation last year. Although all 3 had numerous PR’s on the track, The spotlight goes to Nam Danh who ran a two-mile PR of 9:50 and should be a big player for the warriors. Though keep eyes on Toby Paradise and Aidan Wotzak who both had big PR’s on the track.
Just like last year, Brookline returns an all junior-senior squad to fill the ranks of their top seven. They have the advantage of their pack this year being in the 16:35 range while their returning pack last year was all around the 16:50 range. Though their competition this year will probably be even more fierce than the years prior with some standout squads being St. Johns Prep, Lexington, and Cambridge Ridge & Latin.
